The Bag!!

Ok, so months ago....back in Las Cruces...I bought a kit at Wal-Mart that had a pattern for a bag and had the material.  Here is a picture of that bag and my cute assistant......

So, about a month ago I decided to make the bag with the actual material.  Today I finished it!!  Here is a picture of it....sorry my assistant wasn't available at the time.

If you look close you can see that the bottom corners are different too.  I didn't follow the pattern for the corners (because I wasn't real sure what it was saying to do).  Today I tried it out and realized how to do it and I like it better.  I sent the picture out to friends and family on a text and I already have an order!  I wasn't really planning to make them for selling, but maybe I will have to rethink that and change something a little so I can put it on my etsy shop....www.lettaslittlethings.etsy.com....in case you're wondering.  LOL

Been a while....

So, it's been a while since I've posted any of my craftiness on here. That's partly because I haven't been able to do a lot and also just because I'm not good at blogging. :-) So, here's the newest thing I've made......

It's supposed to be a coupon organizer, but since I don't do coupons I thought it would work great for our cash! I haven't made the dividers yet, but they are just card stock. We get cash out for certain items like groceries, date night, clothes, etc. So, this way I can keep the money separate, but still all together....make sense? lol

I was pretty impressed with myself that I was able to do this and that it turned out pretty good for my first "real" project....at least the first one that I really cared how it looked. :-) I had to call my mom one time when I was getting close to done because when I folded it up and was trying to sew the edge my needle kept cutting my thread. She gave me some suggestions and after changing my needle to a heavier one and blowing the dirt out from by the bobbin.....it worked!!! Paul was even impressed (i think) LOL

I am thinking now about getting some PUL fabric and making another one with that on the inside for the cloth wipes so I can carry them in the diaper bag. That is one other thing I've been working on lately....cloth wipes. When using cloth diapers, the cloth wipes are so nice to have. I have been using old receiving blankets and they have worked out nice. I have enough now to at least do good between washing diapers, but I would like to make a few more to have them in the diaper bag and also to have some in the kitchen for cleaning up after eating and then some for the kids wash cloths. I don't have any pictures of those though.

Here is something else I've worked on....

This is hand and/or body scrub. I have opened an etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/lettaslittlethings. I have this scrub and a couple scarfs on there right now. I hope to add more things, like my dish cloths, when I get more made.

I am going to a ladies retreat at the end of March and they have asked that we bring craft items to donate for them to sell to help with scholarships for next year. I have to decide what I want to take, but will most likely take the scrub....it's the easiest to make! :-)

Well, I guess that's all for now.

Scarves

Today I finished a scarf for Michael. You can see he is very proud of it! He asked for one (even though I was already planning to make one for him) so that made me feel good. :-)

Here are the finished scarves for the girls. If I would have chosen the fringe colors Lydia would have had purple and Grace would have had pink. But, I let Grace choose and she chose purple. Then when I let Lydia choose she chose pink. I have yarn like Michael's, but in pink and purple so I am going to make them another one. I like the color better.

Then I will be making a solid blue one for Paul and trying a stocking cap for him too. Then maybe I will get to make one for myself! :-) I have to try to get his done before Friday so he can wear it out hunting! I am really enjoying making these (and have a few more to make as gifts!).

Newest craft

I know it's been a while since I've posted a new craft so here is my latest. I decided to crocheted a scarf. I ended up making the first one for Grace. As you can see she really likes it. Then Lydia decided she needed her picture taken with it too. :-) I ended up making one for Lydia then too....a little shorter. I then took them with me to mom's last weekend and brought home some yarn to put fringe on the ends of them. I also brought home yarn to make myself one and Paul and Michael one. Although what I brought home was all tan colors and Paul said he'd rather have blue. That's ok...I think blue would look better on him and Michael anyway. So, I'll have to go get some more yarn. :-) Now, I'm ready to try stocking caps too! We'll see about that though.

Tote bag

Here is my first ever tote bag! I bought a kit at Wal-Mart, but before I tried it on that material I wanted to try it on something else in case I ruined it. I thought it turned out pretty good for my first "real" sewing project. I had to take a picture of my little helper too, since she was so nice to hold the bag open for me. LOL And she is all wet because her and her brother had been playing in the bathroom (don't worry it was water from the sink, not the toilet!). HAHA! I am using it now for a diaper bag.

Grinding Wheat

Yesterday went very well. The kids and I made it through the gate at the missile range (that's where the lady lives)!! As soon as we walked in the door Michael and Grace took off with her kids. I didn't see them too much the rest of the time we were there! LOL They had a great time and Grace even got her finger nails and toe nails painted. She loves showing them off! They are glittery too. Lydia stayed with me most of the time, but she did take off a little and play.

It was great spending the time with Connie and her neighbor. I learned that grinding wheat is not hard at all and fun! I would love to save up money to get a grinder and a Bosch mixer, but it will take a while! The bread didn't turn out exactly like it should have, but that's what usually happens when you're trying to show someone how to do it. It still tasted great! I said even if the bread would have been ruined it still would have been a great day. Oh, we made cinnamon rolls with the bread dough too. I don't think Michael or Grace even knew the cinnamon rolls were there. They were too busy playing to stop and eat for too long. LOL

Bill like the food!! YEAH!!! The chicken was cooked a little too long so it all kind of mushed when I pulled it apart and added a little more bbq sauce. So, like I said about the bread...it never turns out like it should when you're doing it for someone else. But, he has tried everything else so far (except the lasagna) and said it was all very good. The garlic bread was even garliky enough (thanks Carleta)!! So, I'll be looking forward to his next order to see what I get to cook for him.

First order off!!

Well, I took Bill's first order to Barb tonight (she will take it to him tomorrow when she cleans for him). It included lasagna, garlic bread, bbq chicken, coffee cake, applesauce, chocolate chip cookies and blackberry stuff. I hope he enjoys it. I even managed to make my husband's favorite supper tonight too.....stroganoff! And my kitchen isn't too messy since I was cleaning as I went (partly because I had to keep washing stuff to use it again!). Tomorrow I am going to a lady's house to see how to grind flour and make bread from it. I know how to make bread already, but she makes an awesome wheat bread and I know hers is soft because she grinds her own flour. I don't know that I will start doing that any time soon, but maybe in the future....we'll see. I am excited to see how she does it though and just spend the time with her. Hopefully the kids will play well (especially Lydia). She has 5 kids, but the two older ones are with their dad on a trip. She also home-schools all of them, but they are taking spring break this week. Anyway, I will let you know if Bill likes the food and if I'm going to be saving my money for a grinder! LOL
